The brief
The Scirocco came in for an interim service, the lighter service that sits between the major intervals, keeping the oil fresh and the basics checked over without doing the full major-service list before it's due. The owner keeps it on schedule and lets the workshop handle the rest. An interim service does the essentials: change the engine oil and filter, top up the fluids, look over the brakes, tyres, lights and the underbody for anything obvious, check the battery, and run a diagnostic scan. It's not the full major service with every filter and fluid, it's the half-interval check that keeps the engine running on clean oil and catches anything that's started to go before the next big one.
The diagnosis
The interim check went through the essentials. The engine oil and filter were due, a couple of fluids wanted topping, and everything else, the brakes, tyres, lights, battery and underbody, checked out fine with no fault codes stored. So it was a straight interim service: change the oil and filter, top the fluids, scan it clean, and hand it back, with nothing else needing attention.
The work
The engine oil was drained and refilled with the correct VW-spec oil and a new oil filter fitted. The fluids were topped to spec, the brakes, tyres, lights and underbody checked over, the battery tested, and a diagnostic scan run with no codes left stored. The tyres were set to the right pressures. A quick run confirmed a clean start, steady running, and nothing leaking.
The outcome
Fresh oil and filter, fluids topped, everything checked over and clear, and a clean diagnostic scan. The Scirocco back on the road fresh until the next service. The car went home looked after. An interim service is the half-interval habit that keeps the engine on clean oil and the basics in check between the major services.
