BMW 318i, resprayed and back to its best.

This BMW 318i came in with deep scratches and chip-offs across the paintwork. The owner asked for a full exterior respray to bring the car back to its former glory.

What the car came in for

This BMW 318i had seen better days. Its paintwork had picked up deep scratches and chip-offs all over the body. The owner wanted the car restored to its former glory.

Over the course of a week the team dismantled the necessary parts, checked and patched the paintwork, wet-sanded the body smooth, masked off every non-painted surface, and resprayed the car in the booth. The new paint was touched up, compound polished, and the parts reinstalled. The photos below follow the car from arrival to the finished reveal.

What a full respray involves

A full respray is mostly preparation. Before any colour goes on, the team dismantles the parts that get in the way, patches chips and flaws, wet-sands the whole body smooth, and masks off every surface that should not be painted. A sound, even foundation is what makes the final finish look right.

  • Necessary parts dismantled for a clean, precise job
  • Chips and flaws patched and the body wet-sanded smooth
  • Every non-painted surface masked before spraying
  • Compound polished to a mirror shine after a full booth respray

Once the car is sprayed in the booth, subtle imperfections are touched up and the paint is compound polished to a mirror shine, then the trim and parts are refitted. The result is an even, glossy coat across every panel.
