Paint protection

Ceramic coating

A ceramic coating is a bonded layer of SiO2 (silica) chemistry applied over a car's clear coat to repel water, slow oxidation, and protect against light scratching for years.

What it means

A ceramic coating is not a wax and not a film. It is a liquid that cures into a clear, glass-like layer chemically bonded to the clear coat. Once cured, the coating raises the gloss of the paint, makes water bead and roll off, and resists UV, acid rain, bird droppings, tree sap, and mild abrasion. Coatings come in tiers based on hardness, durability, and the percentage of SiO2 in the formula. A standard tier lasts 3 to 5 years; a premium tier can carry warranties of up to 7 years. A coating only performs as well as the prep work underneath it. Paint correction has to be done first to remove swirl marks and contamination, otherwise the coating locks defects under glass.

Why it matters in Singapore

Singapore's climate is one of the harshest in the world for paint. Daily UV intensity is high, downpours are sudden, humidity sits above 80 percent, and air quality varies by zone. Unprotected paint oxidises faster here than in temperate climates, and any dealer will price a paint refresh in the thousands. A properly applied ceramic coating extends the cosmetic life of a car by years, which directly improves resale value when it is time to deregister or transfer COE.

How Revol Carz handles this

Revol Carz applies the SGS-certified ZeTough range across three tiers: Glass 6H from S$588, Ceramic 9H from S$688, and Titanium above 9H from S$888. Every job starts with full decontamination and paint correction, then layered application in our climate-controlled bay, then 24 to 48 hours of curing before the car leaves. Warranty paperwork is issued on collection.
