A road accident can happen at any time when one least expects it.
We have here a scenario of an unfortunate customer involved in a common motor accident at a traffic light junction.
As he was slowing down to stop his BMW Series 1 at the traffic red light, he was rear-ended by another car. Apparently, the errant driver was unable to stop his car in time.
The BMW Series 1 suffered a massive dent on the rear bumper.
The dented bumper was the aftermath of the rear-ended impact on the BMW Series 1. In general, in rear-end accident scenarios, the reliability is obviously the errant driver behind. Motor insurance claims are commonly undisputed.

For the benefit of unfamiliar drivers, the following guidelines may be useful for you in the unlikely event of involving in a traffic accident.
In an unfortunate event of a traffic accident, it is common for some drivers involved to be dazed or shocked and perhaps unsure of what to do next.
Here are some helpful tips on what you should do.
- Keep calm.
Take a deep breath, recover your composure, and keep as calm as you possibly can manage.
Do not move your vehicle from the scene of the accident immediately.
Check if anyone is injured. If so, render medical aid immediately if you could or call 995/999 to inform the location.
Do not move any vehicle or injured person/s without police instructions.
If there is no injury, but the accident vehicles are causing obstruction or hazard to other road users, move them carefully to the road shoulder and deploy breakdown signage and/or flashing lights to warn the oncoming traffic.
- Take pictures and exchange particulars.
Great if you have an in-car camera. Remember to “lock” the last recorded footage to use as evidence in supporting your insurance claim.
Take notes and snap photos with your smartphone showing the damages on the vehicles (and car positioning on the road lanes if these give advantages to your insurance claim.
Exchange particulars with the other driver/s name/s, driver’s license and/or passport/NRIC, car registration number/s, and insurance company with your mobile phone camera. This saves the hassle of writing them on paper. Note down the date and location of the accident.
Never admit any liability at this point.
3. Continuing your journey.
After the exchanges, you may drive off with due courtesy to inform the other driver/s if your car is not seriously damaged and is still road-worthy.
If you need a tow.
However, if your car is damaged and unsafe to drive, call our prompt towing service 24hrs hotline at 91828211. Your car will be safely towed to our workshop.
- Reporting the accident.
For a traffic accident that results in injury, pedestrian, cyclist, damaged public property, or foreign vehicle, you are required to make a police report and file the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) Motor Accident Report (MAR) Form within 24 hours.
For non-injury accidents, however, you are NOT required to make a police report but you will still need to file the GIA MAR Form to your insurer within the stipulated time as mentioned in the insurance policy.
For our customers’ convenience, the GIA MAR Forms are available at our workshop.
If you receive any Writ of Summons, Traffic Summons, or any other correspondence from the third party, immediately inform your insurer or direct workshop which is handling your motor insurance claim.
